Is there one "Governing Body" for
Hypnotherapists in the UK?
Unfortunately, not yet. However, I belong to the General Hypnotherapy
Register, which is the official Registering Agency for the General
Hypnotherapy Standards Council. I am also a Member of the National
Council for Hypnotherapy. Members of both organisations are bound
by a Code of Conduct and Ethics, with a formal Complaints Procedure, which
is freely available to the public. I hold Professional Indemnity and Public
Liability Insurance.
What is Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a safe, natural, pleasant relaxed state during which you will
remain calmly in control. During Hypnosis the subconscious mind is able
to absorb information and make lasting changes to set you free from unwanted
symptoms and behaviour. Hypnotherapy allows you to let go of your emotional
past so that you can take control of your future.
Can Anyone be Hypnotised?
Yes, most people can - but only if they want to be. The exceptions to
this are those under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

There are many other areas where Hypnotherapy can be
beneficial. These include improving Sports Performance, Enhancing Memory
and Concentration, raising Personal Creativity in the fields
of writing, painting and performance arts, Problem Solving, Self-Improvement
in personal achievements, work and relationships.
"Past Life" Regression is a fascinating area
of Hypnosis and many people choose to be regressed simply out of interest.
Sessions can be recorded if required.
What will happen at the consultation?
The initial consultation is completely free of charge. You will be able
to discuss your particular problem in complete confidence. You will have
the opportunity to ask as many questions as you wish. I will then discuss
with you a suggested course of treatment. The following hour after the
consultation will have been reserved for you, should you wish to continue
with Hypnotherapy straight away. However, if you decide not to proceed,
or want more time to think about it, you are under no obligation and will
owe nothing.
How Long is each Session and How Many are needed?
Each session of Hypnotherapy is tailored to the individual client, but
is likely to take slightly less than one hour. A course of treatment will
be suggested after the consultation, which will vary from one extended
session (approximately 90 minutes) to become a Non-Smoker up to six or
seven for more complex conditions.
What happens during a Hypnotherapy Session?
You will be asked to sit in an ordinary chair, which you can recline a
little if you wish, and listen to my voice, as you are guided into a comfortable,
pleasant, relaxed state. You may be asked to focus your attention on something
such as a spot on the wall or ceiling for a short while, after which your
eyes will be closed, but you will be fully aware of what is happening
all the time. You may be asked to nod your head or speak out loud during
some sessions, but you will remain relaxed and aware as you do so.
Will I lose control?
No. In fact you will enjoy a feeling of increased control. You will not
be asleep or unconscious. You cannot be made to do or say anything you
do not wish to. If at anytime you feel uncomfortable, you will be able
to terminate the session, open your eyes and be fully alert.
Will I remember what has been said?
Most people recall everything that has been said, but others only recall
certain parts, in much the same way as remembering a dream. The benefits
of the session will be the same, regardless of whether you remember every
word.
Can Children benefit from Hypnotherapy?
Yes, from about the age of eight onwards, provided they can understand
what is being said.
